Expressions Dance

Provides quality dance training in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and Contemporary dance to children aged 3 years upwards.

Our aim is to encourage dancers to be the best they can and we have highly qualified dance teachers to share their skills and talent. The school offers ISTD and NZAMD examinations to all of its pupils to help them progress further with their dance training. We also give our dancers opportunities to be involved in performances, competitions, shows and other productions to promote confidence, co-ordination and a greater sense of worth.

Dance Therapy

Dance Therapy NZ is thrilled to announce the launch of STARS, its Pakuranga-based dance movement therapy group for children with Autism, ADD and other special needs. DTNZ will be offering two after school dance movement therapy groups based at Te Tuhi.

The groups are led by a team of dance movement therapists who ensure that the sessions target the progress of each individual child while providing a fun, creative and expressive space. Not just a regular dance class, these groups give children the opportunity to develop essential social, sensory and movement skills, which can have a profound impact on their lives outside of the dance therapy group.  Some of the amazing benefits of attending a STARS group include increased confidence, ability to make eye contact, try new things, manage emotions and interact with siblings and other children. Recently a parent from the STARS programme commented, 'Dance Therapy provides [my son] with a sense of belonging. He enjoys the routine, the gentleness of the staff and familiarity he has gained with sessions and he has made friends.'

Although there is an overwhelming need in the community for creative therapeutic children's programmes, STARS is the only programme of its kind in Pakuranga.

Kiwi Kiss - weight loss support group

Carolyn Gibson founded Kiwi KISS classes in July 1984 with the belief that if we could enjoy our meals and use everyday ingredients (no diet foods or artificial sweeteners) then we would be more likely to continue cooking those meals once we had achieved our goal. Too often we follow a strict regime for a short period of time, then return to our old habits along with the return of our weight.

The class format includes a full demonstration of our weekly recipe, a copy of which you take home, and the opportunity to sample, if you wish. This allows you to assess if that particular recipe would fit into your family meals - without wasting your ingredients and time at home.

When: Tuesdays from 5.00 - 6.15pm and Thursday 10.30 - 11.45am
